Street party 2014

[Updated 15 Sept 2014 with even more pics]

Pictures from our 2014 street party "Celebrating Scotland - independent or not!".

The Balham Ukulele Society and our street band gave the soundtrack. Note the tartan bunting!

 The attentive audience

 Nessie made an appearance.

 Sunshine throughout!

Line up for the egg and spoon children race

We got quite creative with the Scottish face painting.

We did toss a few cabers.

The master of ceremony in action!

Our "resident artists" id-iom gave one of our walls a fresh coat of paint.

A few heads on spikes (not sure how "Scottish" that is).

And we played an "Independence tug of war"

The best picture illustraing our Scottish theme!

Lady Sulina

Last Sunday was the annual street party. We're hunting for pictures to put on the blog so please do send some great ones to morlinasw2 [a] gmail (dot) com.

Our theme (Celebrating Scotland, independent or not) proved really popular and our "Independence tug of war" was toughly contested.

A lasting legacy of the party will be new "Lady Sulina" mural on Sulina road by local artist id-iom. You can read move about it on their blog and see more pictures on Flickr.
